Damaged public resting place Limbu, Bina

Description

Many old streets in the Kathmandu Valley have resting places (called falcha in local Newari language) where locals hold meetings, celebrations, and festivities. There is a strong possibility that these public places will not be rebuilt following the 2015 earthquake due to lack of funding and changing practices of locals. Taken during the 1st phase of fieldwork conducted by the research team based at Social Science Baha in Kathmandu, Nepal, as part of the SSHRC Partnership Development Grant, ‘Expertise, Labour and Mobility in Nepal’s Post-Conflict, Post-Disaster Reconstruction’.
