Temporary housing made of corrugated-galvanised steel sheets Limbu, Bina

Description

Corrugated-galvanised sheets were extensively used to build temporary shelters following the 2015 earthquake as they were quick to work with. These sheets are also replacing traditional roofing materials such as straws, grass and other thatching materials, and slates in other construction work. Taken during the 1st phase of fieldwork conducted by the research team based at Social Science Baha in Kathmandu, Nepal, as part of the SSHRC Partnership Development Grant, ‘Expertise, Labour and Mobility in Nepal’s Post-Conflict, Post-Disaster Reconstruction’.
