Notice detailing the grievances of the earthquake-affected that have been addressed Subedi, Prakash

Description

There have been many problems during the reconstruction of private houses after the 2015 earthquake. Many of these issues relate to reconstruction policies and implementation, while others have arisen when the beneficiaries were not aware of the policies themselves. This notice by ward no. 9 of the Bhaktapur Municipality lists the beneficiary names whose grievances have been redressed, along with the recommendations and the reasons for not taking any actions on the complaints. For example, a complainant who was not included in the beneficiary list has a safe house in another location and as such is not eligible for reconstruction grants. Taken during the 2nd phase of fieldwork conducted by the research team based at Social Science Baha in Kathmandu, Nepal, as part of the SSHRC Partnership Development Grant, ‘Expertise, Labour and Mobility in Nepal’s Post-Conflict, Post-Disaster Reconstruction’.
