Traditional falcha (rest house) under renovation Subedi, Prakash

Description

Following the 2015 earthquake, there has been a tendency for temples and smaller public spaces to be reconstructed using traditional knowledge and materials. This utilises the knowledge and skills of older generations, hopefully passing this on as well to the younger generations. Taken during the 2nd phase of fieldwork conducted by the research team based at Social Science Baha in Kathmandu, Nepal, as part of the SSHRC Partnership Development Grant, ‘Expertise, Labour and Mobility in Nepal’s Post-Conflict, Post-Disaster Reconstruction’.
