Narrow building with a cantilevered balcony on the upper floors Subedi, Prakash
Though building codes discourage tall, narrow buildings, this type of building construction is still common due to lack of space in cities. Cantilevered structures in tall buildings are thought to be particularly dangerous during disasters, if proper care is not taken during construction. Taken during the 2nd phase of fieldwork conducted by the research team based at Social Science Baha in Kathmandu, Nepal, as part of the SSHRC Partnership Development Grant, ‘Expertise, Labour and Mobility in Nepal’s Post-Conflict, Post-Disaster Reconstruction’.
