Destroyed building yet to be torn down Subedi, Prakash

Description

Many of the earthquake-damaged buildings from 2015 are yet to be torn down, even after three years. These buildings pose hazards to passersby and nearby buildings, but are also an indication of the lack of resources to build a new one in its place, with the owners often staying instead in temporary structures or in a rented abode. Taken during the 2nd phase of fieldwork conducted by the research team based at Social Science Baha in Kathmandu, Nepal, as part of the SSHRC Partnership Development Grant, ‘Expertise, Labour and Mobility in Nepal’s Post-Conflict, Post-Disaster Reconstruction’.
