The Buddha-like Stone at Sitou Town (寺頭鎮) Zhang, Yuanjing
Description
This stone, dated 1085 (Song 宋 Dynasty), is located in the Hall of Stone Buddha at Linqu (臨朐), Shandong Province. The Hall was built in 2012 to protect the stone and all the stone carvings on it. According to local villagers, this stone fell down from Mount Yuxiang (玉象山). People thought that the stone looked like a huge Buddha, therefore, they carved many Buddhas on each side of the stone. Only two sides of the stone are captured in these images.
