The Grotto at Chantang Peak (禪堂崮) Zhang, Yuanjing

Description

This grotto is on the way from the Shrine of Primal Mistress Turqüoise Mist (碧霞元君祠) to Palace of Yuhuang (玉皇殿). The whole grotto is badly weathered. The words "filial piety moves the heaven (孝感動天)" are written on a gate inside the grotto. Inside the gate there is a deity statue. The size of the grotto is 224cm (H) x 312 (W) [1]. This stone statue of a Buddha is on the top of the gate of the grotto. It remains intact relatively. The statue is standing on a lotus seat. Its clothing pattern is clear. The size of the statue is 53(H) x 17cm (W). The height of the seat is 21cm. The left Gandhanra (飛天) is located on the upper half of the grotto, and is badly weathered. The size: 59cm (H) x 56cm (W). The right Gandhanra (飛天) is on the upper half of the grotto, and has been badly weathered as well. The size: 59cm (H) x 56cm (W) [2]. There were two standing statues on both the left and right sides of the grotto gate, which are beyond recognition. The size of the left statue is 97cm (H) x 62cm (W) [3]. The size of the right statue is 101cm (H) x 52cm (W) [4].
