Hoshimine Inari Shrine (Hoshimine Inari sha 星峰稲荷社) Keller, Matthew P.
Description
Image taken at: Hoshimine Shrine. This Inari shrine near Enryakuji takes Dakiniten 荼枳尼天 as its main deity of worship. While presently, at many places, the connections between Inari, Dakiniten, and Buddhism have been erased or obscured, the associations between Inari and Dakiniten go back to the Heian Period. Rituals involving Dakiniten were common in both the Tendai and Shingon schools.
