This is similar to a series which will be pr.o.duced-for th~ia1UJ-.------------Definitions This page will indicate the definitions which are assumed through-out this report. Transition These tables record a~l the factors affecting the stock of dentists in B.C. over the two periods shown. Number of Dentists These tables produce information concerning the number of dentists in the following form~: 1) specialty by regional hospital district, 2) age group by regional hospital district. 1 Note that additional information is available in ROLLCALL-74 which is available from this Unit. DEFINITIONS OF STATUS FOR DENTISTS ~~~~~~*A-c·t~t-v~e---4'1D~errt1.sts~-~~~~~~~~~-Ac tive dentists have been registered at the College of Dental Surgeons of B.C. and have paid their annual dues. On the date of record they are legally licenced to practice dentistry. A small number of dentists is included who while registered and licenced wish to be inactive for a period of time or are serving in the Canadian Forces Dental Corps. Further, a small number of dentists in the Armed Forces stationed in B.C. may be omitted as they have been licenced in another province. Specialists Active dentists are allocated to the specialty in which they have been certified by the College of Dental Surgeons at the date of record. Definition of Terms Used in Transition Activation A dentist who is inactive in B.C. at the beginning of the period but is active in B.C. at the end is included in this group. Immigration & New Registration A dentist who was not in B.C. or wi.s not on our files at the beginning of the period but is active in B.C. at the end is included in this group. Retirement A dentist who was active in B.C. at the beginning of the period and had retired by the end is included in this group. Inactive A dentist who had been active in B.C. at the beginning of the period and had become inactive by the end is included in this group. Deaths A dentist who had been active in B.C. at the beginning of the period and had died by the end is included in this group. Emigration A dentist who was active in B.C. at the beginning but was active not in B.C. at the end is included in this group.
