Low-barrier Employment Elder, Madeline; Ubels, Nick

Description

Unemployment is a significant social determinant of health. In our first episode, Maddie and Nick introduce themselves, discuss their motivations for creating the podcast, and review recent research on low-barrier employment in the Downtown Eastside. How does employment impact well-being? What is the impact of housing on your health? Join UBC medical student Maddie Elder and her co-host, UBC community engagement librarian Nick Ubels, for a new, conversational podcast where they explore current health research in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside (DTES). The podcast is supported by the Making Research Accessible initiative (MRAi), whose goal is to increase the benefit, usefulness, and accessibility of research in the neighbourhood.
