Corners : Architecture's Expressive Edge Fung, Patrick

Abstract

Corners are more than the mere result of enclosing space, they are also an architectural form about meeting, tension, and transition. In everyday life, corners force us to pause, reconsider our path, and change direction. This is an exploration of the corner expressed from different angles: its linguistic presence through idioms and metaphors, its role as a familiar cultural touchstone, and its varied qualities as an architectural element. Given their ubiquity, corners are the cornerstones of the spatial experiences we take for granted.
