Tangled Roots | (Un)Tangled Coast : Reviving Mumbai’s Mangrove Ecosystem for Coastal Resilience Misra, Shruti
Abstract
This thesis seeks to redefine the conventional notion of coastal defense by transcending traditional engineering solutions to embrace a holistic, nature-based approach. Central to this vision is the re-introduction and restoration of mangrove ecosystems at Mahim Bay, Mumbai. This interweaving of land and water will create diverse ecological edge conditions while making mangroves accessible to the public to provide dynamic experiences while impacting the ecosystem as little as possible.
