Cynthia Lam was a semi-finalist in the 2022 UBC Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition. Cynthia presented their research, "Investigation of Head Impact Characteristics in Helmeted Versus Unhelmeted Sports.” They hope to use video recordings and newly developed mouthguard sensors to compare impact scenarios, exploring the biochemical forces at play with the goal of gaining a deeper understanding of the helmets in sport-related-concussions. Cynthia Lam is completing their Master in Biomedical Engineering in the Faculty of Applied Science under the supervision of Dr. Anthony Wachs.
