Description
Courtney van Ballegooie was a semi-finalist in the 2022 UBC Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition. Courtney presented their research, "Microfluidic synthesis of protein-gold nanoparticle hybrids: potential for x-ray triggered release.” They are exploring the deployment of a strategy to help fight against cancer, with the use of proteins, chemotherapy and gold, hoping to find ways of decreasing the side effects of cancer treatment. Courtney van Ballegooie is completing their PhD in Interdisciplinary Oncology in the Faculty of Medicine at The University of British Columbia under the supervision of Dr. Marcel Bally and Dr. Donald Yapp.
