Investigating sex differences in the genetic risk of depression and shared associations with heart disease Théberge, Emilie

Description

Emilie Théberge was a semi-finalist in the 2022 UBC Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition. Emilie presented their research, "Investigating sex differences in the genetic risk of depression and shared associations with heart disease.” They hope to show how important it is to study complex traits like depression through a more holistic whole-body approach, shown by the large effects of the body’s metabolic environment on depression: and, how important it is to analyze data separated by sex, so we can investigate these systems properly. Emilie Théberge is completing their Master in Medical Genetics in the Department of Medical Genetics at The University of British Columbia under the supervision of Dr. Jessica Dennis and Dr. Wendy Robinson.
