Miguel Prieto was a finalist in the 2022 UBC Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition. Miguel presented their research, "Nontuberculous mycobacteria in people living with cystic fibrosis." Their research explores baternontuberculous mycobacteria a type of bacteria that is particularly dangerous for people suffering from cystic fibrosis in hopes to evaluate its infection rate and the role of genetics. Miguel Prieto is completing their Master’s in Experimental Medicine at The University of British Columbia in the Faculty of Medicine under the supervision of Dr. Bradley Quon.
