Title | Exacerbation, concealment, and co-option : neoliberalism's effect on educational, gendered inequalities and feminism |
Creator |
Green, Natasha |
Date Issued | 2019 |
Description | In this graduating paper, I examine how neoliberalism has negatively impacted women and girls in education, whilst simultaneously co-opting feminist struggles for equality of, and between, gendered bodies. As will be argued, neoliberalism exacerbates social inequalities, and fundamentally alters and co-opts concepts such as freedom, autonomy, democracy, equity, and public good (Brown, 2015). Thus, this paper argues that neoliberalism’s ability to absorb critique and adapt itself to the very challenges that would render it obsolete allows neoliberalism to persist and remain resilient, exacerbating gendered and educational inequities. |
