Types, approaches, and outcomes of urban mini forests : a scoping review Devisschner, Tahia; Kuhn, Caroline; Clark, Kylie

Description

Background: Among the most recent efforts to tackle the climate crisis, greening the cities is at the forefront of many countries. One approach to greening cities that is showing many positive and fast results worldwide is to work on small-scale afforestation, resulting in mini, micro or tiny forests. Objective: This scoping review is conducted to systematically map the research about mini forests in the urban context. The review seeks to identify the diverse types of mini forests established globally, the approaches employed to implement these initiatives and the reported outcomes of mini forests. Design: Three online databases and grey literature are being used to find papers and research published worldwide (in English). The search is focused on mini forests and similar small-scale afforestation initiatives in urban settings, and only published articles presenting primary data will be included.
