Changing Concepts in the Management of Asthma Therapeutics Initiative (University of British Columbia)

Description

Therapeutics Letter 12 focusses on the optimal management of asthma in the primary care setting. Conclusions: regular inhaled corticosteroids are the main therapy in asthmatic patients with frequent symptoms or exacerbations. Use inhaled b2-agonists for intermittent relief or breakthrough symptoms only. For all treatments always have an objective goal and measure of efficacy and titrate the dose to identify the lowest dose that will achieve that goal.
