Webcast sponsored by the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre and organized by UBC Creative Writing. Andrew Wreggit (UBC MFA, 1982) is an award-winning film and television writer. Among his sixteen movies or mini-series are Corner Gas: The Movie; The Phantoms for CBC television, which won an International Emmy Award and the Writers Guild of Canada Award; Borealias, a multiple Canadian Screen Awards winner including Best Movie and Best Writing; The Jack Layton Story; Wrath of Grapes: The Don Cherry Story; Mayerthorpe; Shades of Black: The Conrad Black Story; and One Dead Indian. In all, Andrew has won three Gemini/CSA awards for Writing and has been nominated five other times. Mr. Wreggit is also a multiple WGC award winner and a six-time AMPIA award-winner for best screenplay. He has written for critically acclaimed TV series such as Flashpoint, Heartland, Tom Stone, Black Harbour, and North of 60. Mr. Wreggit is also a playwright and poet, and lives just outside of Calgary, Alberta.
