Participatory Publishing : Zines as Open Pedagogy Fields, Erin; Alisauskas, Alexandra; Taylor, Jessi

Description

Zines are a self-published medium that are often created by collaging existing materials (e.g. images, text, etc.) with self-created content and published in simple photocopied formats for open sharing. Participants at this session will be introduced to zine-making history and practices to situate zines as a form of open pedagogy. The session will address the methodologies and resources created to engage students in discussion around open culture, as well as student perspectives on the process. [OER Description: This workshop/training material on open pedagogy and zine-making was developed to support Undergraduate Lower and Undergraduate Upper Division students. This open educational resource (OER) includes slides, an activity plan, a grading rubric, and a handout sample zine.]
