Study of UBC’s current snow removal practices, and their possible effects Choi, Kathryn; Delumeau, Solène; Liang, Khris; Xu, Lisa
Abstract
This report details our team project in collaboration with UBC Building Operations
and the SEEDS Program, from September 2019 to April 2020. Our project partners
have expressed their desire to examine some ways to improve UBC’s current
methods of dealing with the snow seasons, particularly in the realm of reducing
negative environmental impacts of snow and ice removal. The main aim of this
project was to recommend changes in UBC’s current snow removal practices by
observing and documenting their existing protocols, and then exploring alternative
methods that are used in other communities.
