Stone lamp, Yeongamsa Temple site (靈巖寺址) Zhu, Jiayi

Description

The stone lamp extant at the Yeongamsa Temple site (靈巖寺址) stands between the Buddha Hall site and the stone pagoda. The elevated pedestal was built to make sure the lamp stood align with the Buddha Hall. There are holes on the lamp that suggest wooden structure that was made to cover the lamp. Twin lions appear on the lower part of the lamp. The Yeongamsa Temple was built in Unified Silla 統一新羅 (668-935), and was visited until late Goryeo dynasty 高麗 (918-1392).
