Pagodes of Portuguese Goa Nogueira, Eduardo

Description

Connecting spots between Goan Hindus and Portugueses from 16th century, the Pagodes were the former Hindu temples, named by Hindus as Devulla or Vimana. Under Portuguese rule were transformed into targets of Catholic missionary persecution, many being destroyed, becoming places of tension and dispute. Thus, in this entry we are going to present this religious places by the Luso-Hindu concept of the Pagode.
