[Presented at the 2nd International Conference Scientific Basis of Health Services & 5th Annual Cochrane Colloquium, held in Amsterdam, October 5-12,1997.] The purpose of this presentation is: i) to examine and discuss specific issues regarding the generalizability of the WOSCOPS trial; and, ii) to discuss the effectiveness of the cholesterol testing strategies to identify patients who may benefit from pravastatin.
