Description	Following on from the pioneering work of Bunimovitch et al on escape rates for the doubling map, it is interesting to consider escape rates for the Gauss map (or continued fraction transformation). In particular, we will discuss the practical issue of computing the escape rate for the interval $[0, 1/n],$ $n >2.$
