Description	A brief review of classical transversal results for finite families of ovals in the plane, and the recent developments that focus on weakening the disjoint condition in these results. We present these weakenings in terms of phi-distjoint, and conclude with a list of research problems that follow from this generalization. (Joint work with Heppes Aladar.)
