Trees, buildings, and navigation in the unitary group Parzanchevski, Ori
Description
Several breakthroughs in the analysis of quantum gates in U(2) can be linked to the tree structure of certain subgroups of U(2). When one moves to higher dimensions, these trees are replaced by Bruhat-Tits buildings, which are simplicial complexes with fascinating geometry. I will explain what these are and how they relate to navigating the group U(n).
