Via deformation theory, Calabi-Yau varieties in positive characteristic are associated with one-dimensional formal groups. Such formal groups are determined by the height. In this talk, we consider some Calabi-Yau threefolds arising in mirror symmetry, and calculate the height of their formal groups and related quantities.
