The role of logic and machine learning within a general theory of visualization Goebel, Randy
Description
The role of logic and machine learning in visualization is not familiar to many, but the idea of visual inference requires inductive transformations from base data to visual data. These transformations need to be constrained by inference principles, including the construction of layers of knowledge, which generally are difficult to construct by hand. The idea is to describe how logic, learning, and visualization are connected, in order to help enable humans to make better inferences from growing volumes of data in every area of application.
