Sylvie Yang was a semi-finalist in the 2025 UBC Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition. Sylvie presented their research, “Invisible Livelihoods: The Women of Guyana’s Artisanal Fisheries.” Their research aims to address inequality in fisheries, as the field is often perceived as male-dominated, leading to greater risks for women in the industry. Sylvie Yang is completing their MSc in Forestry in the Department of Forestry under the supervision of Dr. Janette Bulkan.
