Listening to the future : sensor technology for green aviation Welsch, Jonas
Description
Jonas Welsch was a finalist in the 2025 UBC Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition. Jonas presented their research, “Listening to the Future – Sensor Technology for Green Aviation.” Hydrogen could make aviation sustainable, but its tendency to leak through microcracks in storage tanks poses a major risk. Jonas’s research develops ultra-sensitive sensors that detect and locate those cracks early, offering a path toward safe, hydrogen-powered flight. Jonas Welsch is completing their PhD in Electrical & Computer Engineering in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering under the supervision of Dr. E. Cretu and Dr. R. Rohling.
