Not just the birds and the bees : unsung nocturnal pollinators of berry agroecosystems Anderson, Hannah

Description

Hannah Anderson was a finalist in the 2025 UBC Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition. Hannah presented their research, “Not just the birds and the bees: Unsing nocturnal pollinators of berry agroecosystems.” While most pollination research focuses on daytime insects like bees, this study reveals that moths—active at night—may also be crucial pollinators, even for crops like blueberries. By uncovering this hidden half of pollination, this research can better protect biodiversity and strengthen ecosystem resilience. Hannah Anderson is completing their MSc in Plant Science in the Department of Botany under the supervision of Dr. Juli Carrilo.
