Rooted Knowledge : Active Learning Tools for Plant Identification Anesi, David Dean
Abstract
Rooted Knowledge is a new course curriculum that reimagines plant identification for landscape architecture students by grounding memory in experience—through fieldwork, storytelling, mnemonics, and self-testing. The pedagogical methods explored in this study support deeper, longer-lasting connections to plants and their cultural and ecological roles, surpassing what traditional classroom instruction in plant taxonomy typically offers.
