Vivian Zhang was a finalist in the 2022 UBC Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition. Vivian presented their research, "Engineering the Stem Cell Battle Arena." They hope to understand more about the role of environmental factors in shaping cell competition, specifically, the compounds that are added to the liquid that stem cells are grown in, also known as the culture media. Vivian Zhang is completing their Master’s in Biomedical Engineering in the Faculty of Applied Science at The University of British Columbia under the supervision of Dr. Nika Shakiba.
