Abstract
A paper exploring the changing needs of English language learners and the ways in which literacy instruction can be transformed in the technologically advanced twenty-first century. Collaborative, thematic, inquiry-based pedagogy is recommended as a way to transform literacy instruction to meet the academic and affective needs of second language students in a secondary English classroom.
